WeSTOC Past Events & History

WeSTOC evolved from the desire for Internet ST owners to get together and "Go Ride" in fun and interesting places and put faces to the names from the email liST, operated by Don Feyma. The first WeSTOC was held in Park City, Utah in August of 1996 with 36 people attending.

WeSTOC consistently grew and in 2001, WeSTOC VI in Kimberley, BC was the first event to break the 200 mark in attendance. It became evident that a more organized method of disorganizing would be required for future events. So in 2001, the Emeritus Council was established and consisted of people who disorganized previous WeSTOC events. Once a Disorganizer has successfully hosted a WeSTOC, they are invited to join the Emeritus Council. The council votes on future site selections and helps assist new Disorganizers with their event.

WeSTOC is held in one of the eleven western states of the continental USA or in one of the two western provinces of Canada, namely: Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, Alberta and British Columbia. To-date, WeSTOC has been held in all of these locations except Arizona, Wyoming and Alberta. The location of the next WeSTOC is, by tradition, kept secret and announced at the end of the banquet of the current event. At that time the Disorganizers for the next event are introduced and the WeSTOC banner is passed to them.

The webmasters for the past events were Dale Wilson (WeSTOC 1-9), Don Feyma (WeSTOC 10-15, 17) and Dave Berzins (WeSTOC 16, 18). Bill Pratt was the master of ceremonies and procured door prizes for many of the WeSTOC's. John and Becci Parker hosted the 10th anniversary gathering, WeSTOC X, in San Luis Obispo, California in September, 2005. John has attended all WeSTOC events thus far and Becci has earned the official title of WeSTOC Den Mother.

WeSTOC is made possible through the efforts of hard working Disorganizers and their volunteers. Thanks to all those in the ST community for their ongoing support.
